How I became involved in restoration
My work with restoration of oil paintings began in Tenafly, New Jersey in 1994-95, where I worked for Sunset Art Studios. Sunset Art Studios was a small art gallery/ studio/ frame shop that was primarily in the business of restoring oil paintings. The owner Arnaldo Miccoli, an Italian man, graciously took me under his wing and taught me the tricks of the trade. Arnaldo, an artist himself, studied art at The Institute of Art G. Pellegrino in Lecce and also attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome before becoming an accomplished person in the world of art and art preservation. Thanks to Arnaldo, I've been restoring oil paintings ever since.
